Days before Christmas

24 december 2015 - Tofo, Mozambique

As I decided I take a big bus to Maxixe. There I take the ferry to Inhambane. While travelling south you see more and more palm trees. The journey on the ferryboat is stunning. It’s early in the morning and people are travelling to go to work and the market. I have to walk a bit with my suitcase which is bit difficult because my suitcase is damaged. This is part of the adventure I think. Tofo is 30 minutes away from Inhambane and there I go to Mozambeats hostel. The owner is Dutch and I meet a lot of Dutch travelers. Tofo is famous for diving because if you are lucky you can see big sea animals as mantas, whale sharks and turtles. The diving is amazing, the beach a paradise and the atmosphere in town is easy going. I decide I will spend New Year’s Eve here. First I need to pick up Uli in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. The city is located south in the country, near to South Africa and Swaziland and it is another 8 hours in a bus. On Christmas Eve I eat dinner with people from the diving school and a few Dutch persons. When I go to bed to wake up early the next day, the party starts. Normally I would use ear plugs, but this is not possible because of a severe ear infection which started after wearing wet ear plugs in Vilankulos.
