In paradise

1 januari 2016 - Tofo Beach, Mozambique

When we drive back to Tofo I also drive for 4 hours. It is the first time I drive a 4x4 on the road so I am enjoying it a lot! In Tofo I arranged a hut at the sea side for Uli and me. Slowly Tofo starts tp become busier because of all the South Africans who are celebrating here. We stay here for 5 nights. I meet the Dutch guy from the surf shop again and I go back to the dive shop. It already feels a bit like home. It is the closest to paradise I have ever been. It’s hard to describe but the atmosphere is relaxing and the people nice. I have my favorite spots to eat and drink and I do 5 more amazing dives. We eat sushi at the beach site hotel while a band is playing, eat tacos above the surf shop as breakfast and drink apple-lemon juice, bake meat on a hot rock at the Italian restaurant and drink cider at the beach. When I dive Uli goes out wave surfing. In the mean while every night there are more parties (which I don’t attend because I dive at 7am). On New Year’s Eve the whole village gets excited and drunk. We invite four South African guys to braai together. They take the meat and we buy the booze. At 12 we do not have anything to cheer with anymore so we go to a party next door. I fall asleep at 4am and 5am I stumble back to our hut. It was a crazy New Year’s Eve, but I would love to do the same next year. On the first of January we relax in the sea, have a good goodbye dinner at one of my favorite spots and then leave to Maxixe so that we can start travelling north towards Malawi early in the morning.

    Dear Elise,

this summer i'm going to travel around Mozambique. I've heard that the situation overthere wasn't safe in the beginning of 2012. So I was wandering how you experiance the circumstance right now.
    Sincerly,
